Masam-Masam Manis 1965

Norkiah (Sharifah Hashim), a nightclub singer new to Kuala Lumpur, rents the room next to Sha'ari (P. Ramlee), a teacher who moonlights as a bandleader. Keeping opposite hours, the neighbours quarrel through the wall without ever meeting, while outside, after Sha'ari saves her from a pickpocket on a bus, they fall in love, each unaware who the other is. They marry, Norkiah claiming to teach cookery. When Sha'ari finds her singing in a nightclub he walls their joined rooms apart again, until a friend's trick with a tape recorder, playing a man's voice in her room, stirs his jealousy and brings them back together.

Anak Bapak 1968

Che' Harun (P. Ramlee), a generous spendthrift deep in debt, wires his rich father, Dato' Mahfiz (A.R. Tompel), that he needs money to marry. When Dato' Mahfiz comes to Kuala Lumpur with his nurse, Halimah (Roseyatimah), to meet his new daughter-in-law, Harun 'borrows' his driver's wife to play the part, and the creditor Normah demands a cheque for her silence. Harun falls in love with Halimah and marries her. Finding the cheque worthless, Normah threatens to go to court; Dato' Mahfiz holds the trial in his own house, acquits his son, orders himself to double Harun's allowance and sentences Normah to marry him.
