The talented musician Ghazali and his companions came to the aid of Tengku Zaleha when her car became bogged down in the mud during a heavy rainstorm. Grateful for their assistance, Tengku Zaleha invited them to perform at her birthday celebrations in the opulent Anggerik Villa. In the days that followed, she found herself drawn to Ghazali and the local way of life, but her strict father and brother closely monitored her every move, confining her to the villa.
In a bid to spend more time with Ghazali, Tengku Zaleha requested that he teach her piano, a decision that would have fateful consequences. Their relationship deepened, but their happiness was cruelly cut short when Tengku Zaleha’s father and brother discovered their forbidden love. Enraged, they brutally attacked Ghazali, leaving him unconscious and broken. Meanwhile, Tengku Zaleha was whisked away to Singapore and forced to marry Tengku Mukri. Ghazali was told that she had died.
Years passed, and Tengku Zaleha returned to Anggerik Villa, leaving Ghazali astonished to see her alive after believing she was dead. Despite the years and the distance between them, their love had not faded, but Tengku Zaleha was torn between the two worlds she now inhabited. Eventually, she summoned the courage to end her unhappy marriage, but Tengku Mukri could not accept that his wealthy and influential wife had left him for a commoner like Ghazali.
