The Antics of P. Ramlee

P. Ramlee As Himself, Ramlee And Damaq · Directed By P. Ramlee

Ragam P. Ramlee was made as three short films: Ramlee & Saloma, Minta Nombor Ekor and Damaq.

A musical revue of songs by P. Ramlee and Saloma.

Two friends sharing a room, Ramlee and Raden, dream of getting rich on the three-digit lottery and both fall for Safiah, who sells the numbers. Raden reads numbers into his dreams but forgets them whenever a pretty girl catches his eye; only a bomoh convinces them that easy riches will never come. The censors refused to pass this segment, a decision P. Ramlee criticised in Utusan Filem dan Sport in February 1965.

The warrior Damaq (P. Ramlee) kills a rival suitor for his betrothed, Kenanga (Kasma Booty), and leaves the village to escape the vengeance of the dead man's brother, Bujang. Told that Damaq is dead, Kenanga marries his elder brother, Gegala (Mahmud June). Damaq returns, defeats Bujang and finds the couple with a small son; given the choice, Kenanga turns back to her child, and Damaq leaves alone. (Synopsis after Ahmad Sarji, Erti Yang Sakti, 1999.)
