The Three Abduls
P. Ramlee As Abdul Wahub · Directed By P. Ramlee
Tiga Abdul is a 1964 comedy film set in the fictional Middle Eastern country of Isketambola, loosely based on Istanbul, Turkey. The film tells the story of three brothers: Abdul Wahab, Abdul Wahib and Abdul Wahub, sons of the immensely wealthy Ismet Ulam Raja. Upon Ismet’s death, the two elder brothers inherited his estate, while Abdul Wahub received only the family house. The cunning Sadiq Segaraga uses his three daughters, Hamidah, Rafidah and Ghasidah, to deceive the brothers and steal their inherited wealth.
Drawing inspiration from traditional folktales, the film incorporates moral lessons about sibling relationships, deception, love and greed. The two elder brothers fall prey to Sadiq’s scheme, but the youngest, Abdul Wahub, outwits him.
